The mission of the National Energy Education Development Project is to promote an energy conscious and educated society by creating effective networks of students, educators, business, government and community leaders to design and deliver objective, multi-sided energy education programs.

Welcome to the 2008-2009 NEED Year! Many new things are coming from NEED this year, including the availability of almost 90% of NEED curriculum guides organized by Grade Level, Subject Matter, and Title. In an effort to provide educators across the country and around the world with NEED materials at the click of a mouse, these guides are available in PDF for download.

NEED, the National Ocean Industries Association and the U.S. Minerals Management Service partnered to create the NOIA Activity Book. Career Currents – October 2008
This issue focuses on the diversity of careers and professionals in the Appalachian Region of the U.S. It includes two career interviews, a student’s internship experience at a National Lab, and the energy history of Appalachia.

NEED is pleased to launch the TXU Energy Solar Academy with TXU Energy in Texas. The program includes solar installations, classroom kits and curriculum, and teacher training. For more information visit the TXU Energy Solar Academy.

NEED and ConocoPhillips have partnered to host 24 workshops in 15 communities across the country. To register for a workshop near you visit the ConocoPhillips section of the NEED website.
NEED partners with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) on the PG&E Solar Schools Program in the PG&E service area. Apply for training, PV installations, and grants.

The NEED Project supports ENERGY STAR®'s 2008-2009 Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR® Campaign. Our goal is to encourage at least 1,000 individuals to take the Pledge. Just think, by reaching this goal we will make a significant impact on our environment, preventing 5,198,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.
